History: Kyo was born on an island near The Village Hidden in the Mist. She was a sick child from the moment she entered this world. Her mother disappeared after she was born leaving her with her grandmother. Knowing the horrific fate that would befall her, Natsumi (Kyo’s grandmother) ran away to Suna where Kyo’s father, Kaito, lived. That’s where she was raised.  Her sickness remained throughout most of her childhood, meaning she never left her house or her room much, cutting her off from the outside world. One day when she is feeling more lively than usual, Kyo decides to sneak out.  She wonders around, not really sure where she is going, when she runs into Gaara. She doesn’t know to be afraid of him, so when she sees him sitting in the park, alone, she immediately asks him to play. After a bit of persuasion, he agrees and everything is fine until her illness flares up and she coughs up blood before fainting. Luckily, Kyo’s father finds them and takes her home. Kyo is bedridden ever since then. A year later, her father takes her out of the village in search for a cure. While taking a break in the forest, Kyo wakes up to find herself alone. She tries to wait for her father but she has to pee so she wanders off to find a place to take care of business. In the process she gets lost.  While trying to find her way back to their campsite, she comes across a much older girl,Yami, wounded and dirty.  A group of ninja are chasing her and one throws a kunai that stabs her in the leg making her fall, seeing this, kyo dubs the ninja as bad and in her childlike fear and fury unlocks her kekkei genkai which she uses to kill them (she just thinks they are unconscious though) this however puts a huge strain on her body and she faints and puts her in critical condition. As usual, Kyo’s father finds them and after assessing the situation, he takes both girls. Soon he finds the medicine man he had been looking for. He gives him the cure but warns that Kyo may not survive. Her father gives it to her anyway, and Kyo dies….for about 2 minutes. But they revive her. The cure works wonders. The illness is gone, and besides the occasional cold she’ll hardly ever get sick again, and poisons aren't fatal, they just make her sick for  few days or weeks depending on the strength.

After that, Kyo begs her father to let Yami stay with them, he agrees after losing a long battle against  her crying, whining and puppy eyes.   With her new found freedom she devotes her time to finding out about everything she missed out on, showing Yami love, helping those around her and training to make her papa proud.
